SCMA Annual Meeting Highlights

Advocacy: Obesity Resolution from member Joseph Hoyle, MD and the Young Physician Section was defeated but with good feedback for future submission. Several resolutions related to reorganization were passed, including the transition from a House of Delegates to a Legislative Policy Committee.

Education: Members Rodney Alan MD and Joseph Hoyle MD provided scores and feedback to the medical student and resident poster competition. Sessions included topics on ethics, social determinants of health, controlled substances, and hot topics such as AI in healthcare and women's health. Several vendors also provided educational topics.

Friendship: Spring in Greenville provided opportunities for walks, shopping, wine and burbon tasting, as well as dancing.

Leadership: Congratulations to M. Mayes DuBose, MD, who was inaugurated as the 163rd President of the South Carolina Medical Association
