In addition to signing the beam, McLeod staff attended the first annual Brighter Days Conference held at the Florence Center. McLeod also served as a sponsor of the event. The conference was being provided as a free community service in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Project 2025 to reduce suicide by 20% by 2025. The event included education and training for first responders, healthcare personnel and public and church-based school staff.
In June 2023, McLeod Health, the Medical University of South Carolina, Francis Marion University, HopeHealth and the City of Florence joined Governor Henry McMaster, South Carolina House Speaker Murrell Smith, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH) to announce this historic, collaborative investment in South Carolina’s behavioral health system.
